S031: "As good-looking as ever."
S032: "Nameless item"
S033: "your former self"
S034: "Chelsea in west London"
S035: "The lab is a complete shambles. Hurriedly stacked pieces of paper make
your workbench in the centre of the room totally unrecognisable. Steps lead up
to the rooftop, the lab storeroom is to the north, and the exit from the
laboratory is to the south. In one corner of the lab is the result of what is
in effect your entire life's work, the translocation machine."
S036: "The notebook contains various entries about the the temporal
translocation project.
(To look up an entry in the notebook type "Consult notebook about <Subject>",
where <Subject> is one word describing the topic you wish to look up.)"
S037: "your"
S038: "The many papers on the workbench represent your past labours on this
project. Some contain various notes you have made during the course of your
work, others merely useless pictures and scribbles."
S039: "Just various meaningless diagrams that were drawn on a Tuesday afternoon
in the lab. Even crazy scientists can get bored!"
S040: "It is a small panel, to one side of the machine."
S041: "The red button is located on the surface of the translocator and
"ACTIVATE" is written boldly on it."
S042: "As you look into the hole, you see a vast emptiness stretching possibly
to infinity. The urge to enter the seemingly bottomless void is extremely
compelling."
S043: "The storeroom is not in the mess that the laboratory is, primarily due
to the fact that it is almost completely empty, most of your things have
already been taken away by DigiCorp officials, leaving a shelf on one wall as
the major storage place inside the room."
S044: "The lab is to the south."
S045: "A picture in a triangular frame, showing a man with some kind of
electronic eye sitting behind a table. As you look at him, you feel that one
day this man will become a problem for somebody, but not for some time yet. A
caption has been written under the photograph, "Time is but a series of ever
increasing triangles.
--Gustav Ernst III.""
S046: "A triangular picture frame hanging on one wall catches your attention
for a reason you are unable to determine."
S047: "The only interesting thing about this otherwise standard screwdriver is
that, for some unknown reason, "WDriver" has been written on the handle."
S048: "The roof of the DigiCorp Technologies building is an empty expanse of
concrete. A strong wind causes ripples on the surfaces of various puddles of
rain, providing strong evidence of typical English weather. Peering over the
edge of the roof, you can see the lights of the Chelsea area of London
stretching out across the landscape. Steps lead back down to the laboratory."
S049: "What, you think you can fly now?"
S050: "The edge of the roof prevents progress in that direction."
S051: "You always thought you could see an interesting pattern of triangles
when you looked at the lights, but were never able to work out why. The lights
look dimmer than usual, probably because of the bad weather, though you can't
shake off the feeling some event of world shattering importance is about to
take place."
S052: "A dodgy looking piece of wire at one side of the roof serves as the
building's lightning conductor."
S053: "The conductor is a piece of wire attached to the side of the building.
It sways slightly from side to side as the wind blows across the rooftop."
S054: "an"
S055: "There's no need to describe that. You know perfectly well what's
inside!"
S056: "The man is wearing a black jacket and strange-looking pants. It is his
face that is most striking, though. It is a clear picture of terror."
S057: "The man called "Carpenter" is clearly dead. Smoke is still coming from
the hole in his body. The black jacket looks fairly intact, however."
S058: "The jacket is black and is made of some material you don't recognise.
The only distinguishing feature apart from the capacious pockets is the
striking triangular badge, with a logo depicting a golden letter T linked with
a silver I."
S059: "Nestling amongst the rubbish is a strange-looking gun (at least, you
assume it's a gun.)"
S060: "The gun is a long rod shaped object, with a bulky bit at one end. You
guess you could use it if you had to, but the actual mechanism is beyond your
comprehension."
S061: "You are at the corner of a street, which extends to the east. To the
west and south the area is dark and sinister-looking, apart from the occasional
glimmer of several signs located on rooftops. To the north of you is a dimly
lit alleyway."
S062: "It could be dangerous, you'd rather stay in the more well-lit areas of
the city."
S063: "You'd rather not venture into the darker, possibly dangerous area of the
city."
S064: "The signs seem to advertise various companies and corporations, many of
them you have never heard of before."
S065: "This area is even less well lit, because several of the street lights
seem to be non-functional. On the north side of the street a building has been
boarded up, and an inch-deep gutter runs along the edge of the road. There is a
lighter area of the street to the east, whilst steps descend downward to an
area under the street level. Next to the steps is a faded circular sign."
S066: "There's no way you could get into the building while the boards are
still in place."
S067: "A series of wooden planks block the building's entrance, they look as if
they've been there for some time. Faded black writing covers the surface of one
of the boards."
S068: "some"
S069: "The sign used to be a red circular one as far as you can tell. The
writing has mostly faded, but you can still make out some of the letters,
"BAK...S...ET"."
S070: "The tracks appear to have been made recently, by a two-wheeled vehicle.
It was probably the vehicle the killer used to leave the area."
S071: "You notice some vehicle tracks, leading from the gutter onto the road."
S072: "This area has clearly been out of use for a long period of time. The
platform area is deserted and the tracks are covered in dust, ending abruptly
in boarded up tunnels. Steps lead back up to the street level, and the platform
continues to the east."
S073: "The platform has fallen into disrepair. Perhaps decades worth of dust
lies on the cracked concrete. The station exit is to the west."
S074: "Judging by the size of the hole and its shape, you guess a door once
existed here."
S075: "In the north wall is a large rectangular hole, big enough to fit
through."
S076: "You are in a foul-looking lavatory. Graffiti has been written on the
walls, the pipes have practically rusted away, and the area smells of
unnameable chemical compounds."
S077: "some"
S078: "some"
S079: "The pipes have practically fallen off the walls. Flakes of rust are all
over them."
S080: "The toilet is cracked with age. Amazingly, the lid of the toilet is
still intact."
S081: "Most of the toilets are non-existent, though one is still standing."
S082: "A white plastic carrier bag, like something you could get from a
supermarket. The word "Elma's" has been written on it."
S083: "some kind of"
S084: "A small, plastic card, with a photograph which you recognise as
belonging to the dead man on the front. His details are written on the rear of
the card:
Name: Carpenter, K.D.
Address: Gerants Heath Estate
Date of birth: 23/02/22
Occupation: Scientist
Place of Work: Trion Institute"
S085: "A round metallic disc. It looks as if it might store some kind of
information. On the back are written the initials KDC."
S086: "a piece of"
S087: "You have reached the end of the street. There appears to be no way to
carry on eastwards."
S088: "The only way to go from here is west back along the street, or to get
into the car."
S089: "The interior of the car is fairly plain. The driver is sitting in the
front, before some kind of weird control panel, containing some kind of wheel
and various digital displays. There is only one door you can see, the one you
entered the vehicle by."
S090: "He appears to be a man in the latter stages of his life. He has a look
on his face which suggests life has somehow cheated him."
S091: "The taxi driver looks expectantly towards you."
S092: "The only exits are to the north and to the northeast."
S093: "The front of the small building, clearly some kind of residence, is a
small porch. A plaque on one wall bears the initials KDC. The means of entrance
to the house is a solid-looking metal door, a small window located at
eye-level."
S094: "The door appears to have been forced open at some point in the past, as
the door is slightly ajar. A small window is located in the door at eye-level."
S095: "The slot is narrow, like the kind of slot that would be on a cash
machine in your time."
S096: "Next to the door, on the wall, is a thin slot."
S097: "The alley to the side of the house is dark and gloomy, with the building
on the west side. A rope fence surrounds the house, approximately three metres
in height and the harsh looking metal wires on top of the fence clearly make it
unclimbable."
S098: "A fairly crude hole has been cut in the rope fence."
S099: "You are in the shadowy area to the rear of the house. There are no exits
on ground level nearby, though looking up you notice a platform high above you.
The hole you sneaked in through is back to the east."
S100: "The platform looks fairly insecure, though it shouldn't collapse unless
you put too much strain on it."
S101: "The apartment has a futuristic feel to it, the marvel of twenty first
century technology clearly evident from peculiar hi-tech machinery, such as the
yellow globe hanging from the ceiling. It is however, slightly negated by the
presence of wallpaper, a decorating style typical of your time. Upon glancing
around the room, you see you are not the first to search here, many items lie
discarded on the floor."
S102: "The only exits from the room are the steel door to the south and the
dirty window to the north."
S103: "One of my deputies said they noticed something strange round the back."
S104: "Thought we could see somebody inside the building."
S105: "That was a heck of a racket you made."
S106: "On the wall is some kind of secret compartment, its door has been
removed by forcible means (along with parts of the wall)."
S107: "A futuristic looking piece of hardware, with a magnetic clasp mechanism.
There are three buttons on the right edge of the watch, at the top, centre and
bottom, along with a display on the front."
S108: "a yellow circle with lines radiating from it"
S109: "a dark featureless dot"
S110: "a hollow circle, with two lines inside"
S111: "A strong looking container, with a complicated locking mechanism on the
front. It looks as if it might contain important items inside."
S112: "many"
S113: "Odd papers, clothes, things which could be the twenty first century
equivalent of computer disks, to name but a few. Somebody did a good job here,
no doubt whoever was responsible for killing Carpenter."
S114: "The cell is cramped and the walls, like every other thing in this time
it seems, are metallic. There are seemingly no doors to leave the cell by, the
feeling of isolation is total."
S115: "The bed is small and narrow. The mattress on the top of it is a plain
white colour. Cell beds don't seem to have improved drastically over the
decades. The bed is also very low."
S116: "two"
S117: "The grate looks if it may lead into a tunnel, itself leading to other
parts of the complex."
S118: "A large chamber, bare except for a metal table and a white circle on the
ceiling that fills your eyes with a piercing glare. The room is filled with
shadows and you can hardly make anything out."
S119: "A simple plastic chair, fitting in nicely (or not depending on your
viewpoint) with the rest of the room."
S120: "You stare at the figure, but are unable to make out any details.
"Admiring the view?", she says with a threatening edge to her voice."
S121: "A small glass, full of a clear liquid."
S122: "The shaft is narrow, obviously hardly used looking at the flakes or rust
that cover the walls. The shaft continues to the east and to the west. Above
you a smooth shaft extends back upwards to the police cell."
S123: "There's no way could climb back up there."
S124: "You have reached the end of the vent shaft. In the east wall is a grate
leading out to somewhere in the complex. The shaft runs back to the west."
S125: "The shaft comes to an abrupt end with the rubble strewn to the west.
There is some kind of grate in the floor, whilst the only other exit is to the
east."
S126: "You can't hope to get past the rubble."
S127: "Peering through the grate, you can see some sort of hangar area. In the
hangar seems to be a vehicle akin to a helicopter, only more hi-tech. Standing
next to the helicopter is a police officer on guard duty."
S128: "A brilliant mix of concrete, rusty pipes and sheets of metal. There's no
way to get past it."
S129: "You are inside a large room with tile-covered walls. The only
furnishings are lockers, similar in design to the ones from your period of
time. The grate you entered by is high up in the west wall, well out of your
pathetic reach. The main building appears to be to the southwest, while a small
cubicle area is to the southeast."
S130: "The grate is out of reach."
S131: "an"
S132: "A square piece of plastic on a metal pole. The workings are beyond your
comprehension (hey, scientists can't know everything-or even anything)."
S133: "One of the lockers stands out, as it is clearly one of the few still in
use. The steel door of the locker is closed."
S134: "The steel door belonging to the locker still in use has been swung
open."
S135: "A uniform about your size, the predominant colour is blue. On the front
of the uniform is some kind of identification badge, and the uniform has two
large pockets."
S136: "an"
S137: "A silvery coloured, austrian cigarette lighter, with the words
"Happiness in a cigar" engraved on the base."
S138: "A small cubicle-like room, with the main lockers area back to the
northwest. Along one wall are a row of what appear to be showers, complete with
rather bland looking opaque plastic doors."
S139: "The door to the shower is opaque, white and plastic, hardly pleasing to
the eye. The door's handle is also in sight, in line with the handle on the
next shower."
S140: "Hanging on a rack on one wall is a steel key."
S141: "A fairly small, unremarkable, steel key."
S142: "dense"
S143: "Dense grey smoke fills the area."
S144: "This is clearly some sort of storage area. Crates are stacked up against
one wall, and there are also a multitude of steel drums."
S145: "The only visible exit is to the south."
S146: "A drum about half a metre in diameter, containing highly flammable
fuel."
S147: "You are standing on a large slab of concrete, with markings on the
surface and lights around the perimeter. You are surrounded by all sorts of
peculiar machines, their purpose is completely beyond your understanding. No
roof is above you, the landing pad is in the open. The main hangar area is back
to the east. On the landing pad is some sort of futuristic machine, akin to a
twentieth century helicopter."
S148: "A large, powerful-looking machine, with an engine quite unlike anything
you have ever seen to the rear. The entrance to the machine is towards the
front, and the top bears the legend "Jetcopter"."
S149: "The machine is guarded by an armed police officer."
S150: "The guard has a very serious expression on his face, and is constantly
alert. You'll have to take care if you want to avoid capture."
S151: "You are sitting in the pilot's chair, at the controls of a hi-tech piece
of machinery. Through the cockpit window you can see a clear picture of the
area surrounding the machine. The main control panel consists of a mass of
switches and buttons."
S152: "Inside the jetcopter you notice a discarded pilot's helmet."
S153: "A helmet similar to those worn by motorcyclists from your period, with a
dark visor on the front."
S154: "The pilot's seat is reasonably comfortable and has a fixed position."
S155: "the"
S156: "A book which seems to give the details of how the machine works. You
give it a quick glance through."
S157: "The farmhouse that once existed there has collapsed."
S158: "The presence of a stone wall halts progress in that direction."
S159: "The remains of the pilot's seat that conveyed you here. They are firmly
embedded in the ground."
S160: "You are in an area of fairly dense shrubland to the north of the field.
Many bushes and plants lie dotted about the landscape, but you fail to notice
any remarkable features."
S161: "The only exit is back to the south."
S162: "The vegetation covers the whole area."
S163: "The branches look almost dead, but they are covered in thick leaves."
S164: "several"
S165: "A small, cramped shed, with few of the shelves still intact. Many
ill-used tools line the walls, and there is a broken window at one end."
S166: "The exit is to the northwest."
S167: "some"
S168: "Some garden shears lie in one corner, the only tool which seems to have
weathered the years."
S169: "A pair of garden shears, still quite sharp and possibly of some use."
S170: "You are in what used to be the garage for the farm. This probably once
contained tractors, harvesters and the like, but if it did, they're gone now.
The only vehicle that remains is a rusty old car. The exit is to the
southwest."
S171: "The car is literally falling to pieces. There doors have weathered under
the elements and the roof is covered in rusty patches. The lock on the boot of
the car has also become a victim of the passage of time."
S172: "A small detector, possibly a microphone, attached to the underside of
the car."
S173: "It's just a piece of cloth, probably torn off some clothes."
S174: "The building that used to be the barn is warm and roomy. The centre of
the room is dominated by a large container, whilst the edges of the room are
almost bare. Light creeps in through the main door to the north, and rickety
wooden steps lead up into some sort of loft area."
S175: "A naked body of a young female, her eyes seem to stare straight at you.
As far as you can tell she's not been dead very long. Strangulation marks on
her neck bear all too familiar handiwork. Her mouth is bruised, and a tag
around her neck has the name "Tamara" written on it."
S176: "The mouth is bruised and swollen. The teeth seem to be strangely
clenched together."
S177: "tiny spheres"
S178: "You are now in the loft of the barn building. Bales of hay are stacked
at one side of the room. There is a musty smell in the air, presumably due to
ages worth of dust and muck."
S179: "The only way out of here is the steps back down."
S180: "Glowing lights far above you on the ceiling illuminate the huge chamber
in which you find yourself. A conveyor belt leads off to the east. From where
you are standing you can't see the other end of the belt, and there doesn't
appear to be a belt going the other way. Guess it looks like a one way trip."
S181: "Above the entrance to the conveyor belt is a sign bearing a weird logo."
S182: "The conveyor belt runs east/west, and along the route there appear to be
various scanners and security systems, with a few mounted ceiling guns to act
as deterrents. It looks like you'd better take care here."
S183: "The movement of the conveyor belt is carrying you in the opposite
direction."
S184: "The movement of the conveyor belt is carrying you in that direction
anyway."
S185: "The conveyor belt runs east/west."
S186: "The eastern end of the conveyor belt opens up into the small room in
which you are now standing. The walls are covered in Trion Institute logos. To
the south, some doors are open, leading into some sort of elevator."
S187: "The conveyor belt is a one way system."
S188: "The elevator hasn't changed much in sixty eight years. It still has the
same old features, a panel of buttons on the west wall, a door to the north and
a dim orange lamp providing light to see by."
S189: "The only exit from the elevator is to the north."
S190: "the"
S191: "A standard panel of touch sensitive buttons. They are three in number,
labelled "I","II","III"."
S192: "A reasonably wide corridor, illuminated by spherical globes at evenly
placed intervals. The corridor seems to extend a long way to the east, and it
opens out into some kind of kitchen to the west."
S193: "A large kitchen, apparently still in use, though deserted at the moment.
Dividing the room in two is a long plastic table. Several glass cabinets line
the walls, containing what you presume is twenty first century food, although
the cube-like objects hardly look nutritious. Another room is to the west, and
the main corridor is to the east."
S194: "A metal tray lies discarded on the table."
S195: "You are in a room filled with beds and cupboards. Several of the beds
are occupied by people, and a table lamp provides a dim glow to the room."
S196: "The only way to go is back to the canteen."
S197: "Tucked firmly underneath the bed is a large rucksack."
S198: "A large rucksack, with lots of room inside. A name tag has been attached
to the flap, "R.Collins"."
S199: "The corridor is pretty nondescript, with doors at various points along
the way. The ceiling is covered in familiar globes of light. You have the
feeling you could get lost in this underground complex."
S200: "The corridor is level."
S201: "There are no doors in the floor."
S202: "You'd better not go through any of the doors, it would be too easy to
get lost."
S203: "You are now in the heart of the complex, more doors surround you on all
sides. The doors all seem to have peculiar methods of locking, various pads and
scanners. One door which does catch your eye is the one to the northeast, as it
is labelled "Tamara Krieg"."
S204: "The corridor seems to go on forever. You could easily get lost if you
carried on in that direction."
S205: "The only door of interest is to the northeast."
S206: "A strange vertical red beam, it's probably linked to a detector of some
kind, and it wouldn't be helpful to your cause if you were to alert everybody
to your presence."
S207: "The office is roomy and cluttered with all sorts of items. It evidently
has been searched (and you can guess who was responsible). A tough metal safe
dominates one corner of the room, and a desk lies in another."
S208: "Lying amongst some papers on the floor is a high quality photograph."
S209: "An extremely high quality photograph (seems like cameras have improved a
lot), the picture is of Tamara."
S210: "an"
S211: "keystones"
S212: "An important looking beige folder, with various papers inside. The front
is marked "Xeron Project""
S213: "The medallion must have been transported here, as it lies tantalizingly
on the floor."
S214: "It's a long thin rod, with a pointed end. The other end looks like a cap
that could be pressed inwards."
S215: "The room you are standing in is enormous. A gigantic column of metal
extends up from the floor towards the ceiling overheard. Around the column at
various points are platforms made of the same metal as their support. To one
side stairs lead up to some kind of observation chamber."
S216: "There are no holes in the floor."
S217: "The room is enormous. It could take hours to reach the other side.
Besides, you feel a strange pull towards the security door."
S218: "A round metal door, with a glass scanner and a circular pad providing
efficient methods of detection. This door has a feeling of ultimate protection
about it."
S219: "In the west wall is some kind of security door."
S220: "The security door has opened, revealing a path westwards."
S221: "A large round chamber, with panels, switches and buttons abundant around
the area. On one wall a screen continuously displays readouts from some strange
laboratory experiment. The only way out of this frighteningly hi-tech chamber
is down."
S222: "A female figure in body armour stands over you."
S223: "The woman's head is the only exposed part of her body."
S224: "an"
S225: "The female enemy lies unconscious on the ground of the annexe."
S226: "The woman still looks dangerous, even though she is unconscious. Now you
realize that her face is covered in a mask, and she used Tamara's identity to
gain entrance to the institute."
S227: "The mask is made of a weird plastic substance."
S228: "The lab before you is almost an exact replica of your own that you left
behind in Chelsea, except this one is a lot tidier. Pipes run along the ceiling
towards other parts of the complex and there are many futuristic panels on the
walls."
S229: "The security door closed behind you. You can't even see it now."
S230: "The access gate is to the west, and it appears to be the only exit from
the lab."
S231: "A large machine, in the shape of a cylinder. Its resemblance to the
machine you were working on in Chelsea is striking, it is composed of almost
the same materials, but in a more organised fashion. To one side of the machine
is its access gate."
S232: "A large circular entrance to the machine."
S233: "A simple square hatch, with no remarkable features."
S234: "an"
S235: "A small storage closet, obviously designed to be used by the people
testing the machine. The walls are metal and featureless, and the only exit is
east back to the control room."
S236: "an"
S237: "Hanging on one wall of the closet is some kind of white suit."
S238: "A hi-tech looking piece of clothing, with various buttons and switches
attached. The word "envirosuit" is written on the front."
S239: "On the floor is some kind of red crystal."
S240: "A small red crystal, it seems to be glowing dimly."
S241: "The image solidifies into an official-looking man. He starts to speak,
"This is the prototype version of the Xeron device, and contains standard and
keystone variant navigational features. The standard envirosuit is included for
secrecy purposes, but the craft holographic generator will not be installed
until it has been fully tested."
"
S242: "Apart from the Xeron prototype to the west, the only way to go from here
is down."
S243: "The campsite has been deserted for quite some time. The tents to the
south and east look like they've been abandoned for a long time. Towering rocks
block passage in most directions, except to the north, where there is some kind
of canyon."
S244: "In the centre of the camp site is a pile of ashes, evidence of a camp
fire that burned here some time ago."
S245: "Some distance from the site of the fire, a piece of charcoal is embedded
in the sand."
S246: "Fairly small and highly used. It doesn't look like there's a lot of life
left in it."
S247: "The main tent has been cleared in quite a hurry. Loose clothes lie
dotted around the floor. There is a small bed inside the tent, that too seems
to be in a poor state of tidiness."
S248: "The tent's canvas prevents progress in that direction."
S249: "There's nothing in that direction but sand."
S250: "The sturdy chest next to the bed has been opened."
S251: "Next to the bed is a sturdy wooden chest."
S252: "A large, sturdy wooden chest. It has a firm looking lock attached to it.
It is the kind of chest people would use to store valuables inside."
S253: "A small bed, made of timber. Just a couple of sheets and a hard pillow
against the bedrest."
S254: "It's a large, leather bound book. There appears to be quite a lot of
writing inside."
S255: "A glass disc, about ten centimetres across. It seems to oddly change the
light as you look into it. Around the rim of the disc some writing has been
etched."
S256: "Divider of that which provides us with our very existence."
S257: "A small leather book, with the name tag "Professor H. Johnstone" on the
front cover."
S258: "The area behind the tents is enshrouded in shadow, the sand here being
notably cooler than the rest you have encountered. Rocks extend high into the
air, blocking progress in most directions."
S259: "The supply tent is in the way."
S260: "There is no way to progress in that direction."
S261: "Half buried under the sand is a pile of bones that you recognise as a
human skeleton."
S262: "The pile of bones have been here for some time, and the skull is
pointing towards the sky, as if the owner had been looking for some sort of
guidance from the heavens."
S263: "An almost completely empty tent, with shelves and crates completely
ransacked. It seems that whoever was here left rather suddenly, as if something
nasty happened to them."
S264: "The canvas wall of the tent blocks movement in that direction."
S265: "The old oil lamp kind, clearly no longer useable. The wick that was once
inside has gone. The lamp has an openable lid on the top."
S266: "The only item you notice in the tent is a broken lantern lying on one of
the crates."
S267: "You are in a canyon in the middle of the desert, sheer rock walls rise
all around you, giving you the feeling of being trapped. The camp is back to
the south, while to the north the desert extends as far as you can see."
S268: "The walls are too steep to climb."
S269: "The canyon runs from north to south."
S270: "The middle of the desert has an even higher temperature than the
campsite. To the north, a rock face extends high into the air. Other features
you can make out from here include vegetation to the northwest and a strange
tetrahedral structure to the east."
S271: "A small pool of water provides the only sign of moisture you have seen
in the desert so far. Vegetation surrounds the pool on all sides, and there
appear to be occasional bones buried in the sand."
S272: "The only paths are to the southeast and to the east."
S273: "The pool of water is somewhat murky."
S274: "some"
S275: "Murky water obtained from the pool in the desert."
S276: "A tall wall of rock is no the north and extends across the desert as far
as the eye can see. To the west you can see the sun reflecting off something,
and the desert extends to the south. There is a weird tetrahedral structure to
the southeast."
S277: "Some excavation work appears to have been done here, as a tunnel to the
north heads into the face of the rock."
S278: "This was clearly a storeroom when this area was in use, judging by the
great stone shelves running along the walls. There are many cracks in the floor
and ceiling, indicating a long period of disuse."
S279: "A crystal ball, similar to the kind used by psychics, lies forgotten in
one corner of the room."
S280: "clear"
S281: "The shrine is dominated by a large statue placed against one wall. You
guess strange offerings would be placed on the altar here and prayers would be
offered to the gods, but the room in ominously silent now."
S282: "When the opposing elements reside within me in unison, the need for war
shalt no longer be necessary."
S283: "Resting on the floor in the shrine is a sword made of pure silver."
S284: "A precious weapon indeed, made even more powerful perhaps by the ancient
runes inscribed along its blade."
S285: "Power be given to those who be chosen."
S286: "some"
S287: "The water rests calmly inside the bowl."
S288: "This chamber is similar in shape to the central one, although it is
quite a bit smaller. Against the east wall is a large stone slab, with a
picture engraved on it. Diagrams depicting the sun cover the stone walls of the
chamber."
S289: "The god that doth fall upon the great table shalt be used to vanquish
the great enemy."
S290: "triangle"
S291: "square"
S292: "circle"
S293: "line"
S294: "white"
S295: "It's just a coloured beam of light."
S296: "red"
S297: "green"
S298: "yellow"
S299: "blue"
S300: "The chamber has a dark and sinister feeling to it, strengthened by the
presence of inscriptions that seem to resemble stars on the walls and ceiling.
The only exit from this hellish room is to the northwest."
S301: "The feeling of a long lost civilization of great power abides in this
great stone chamber. Perhaps centuries have passed since this tomb was laid to
rest here in the desert. There doesn't seem to be any dust present at all in
this area, which you find rather strange."
S302: "The only apparent exit is to the south."
S303: "an"
S304: "A huge stone artifact, with writing on the lid."
S305: "The end of one lifetime is but a transition to the next."
S306: "A golden rod, about three quarters of a metre in length. The tip of it
is encrusted in jewels and there are markings along the side."
S307: "All praise the beholder, Karimal."
S308: "The keystones must not fall into the hands of the demonic ones from
which they be protected since the coming together of time."
S309: "A fairly small chamber, dominated by a machine in the centre. Using your
scientific expertise, you'd guess the device to be some kind of generator,
probably the power supply for this complex. It looks as if the machine is still
in operation, as the lights in this room are still active."
S310: "The machine takes up most of the room, and there is a circular slot of
some kind on the front. There is a funnel-like opening on the surface."
S311: "The tetrahedron is the size of a large building, with some ancient
script engraved onto the walls. A door has opened to the southeast, giving
access to inside the monument."
S312: "Within here be the resting place of the yellow keystone of time."
S313: "As you tread on the stone floors inside the great tetrahedral structure,
dust rises into the air, as if this place has remained undisturbed for
countless centuries. To one side of the massive room is an equally huge
statue."
S314: "The only exit is the one you entered from."
S315: "The dim light reflects off a tiny gold sphere tucked away in the corner
of the chamber."
S316: "In the presence of power, and the symbol and word of authority, the eye
shalt be given to the champion of time."
S317: "The burning hot sun is high in the sky."
S318: "A tiny brass key, nothing special about it."
S319: "The western side of a park, with some kind of huge tent to the north. A
path leads off to the east, a sign nearby indicating the park's lake to be in
the same direction. To the south is an iron gate, presumably the entrance to
the park."
S320: "You are standing outside a large red tent, the entrance is to the north.
A sign near the front of the tent reads "Exhibition of Triumph.", it doesn't
seem like there are a lot of visitors around, there are a few deserted drink
stalls on the side of the path."
S321: "The path leads away to the south, and the entrance to the exhibition is
to the north."
S322: "Some kind of stall has been set up outside the entrance to the pavilion,
with many strange trinkets laid out on top."
S323: "A fat man dressed in a black suit stands behind the stall, apparently
waiting to do business."
S324: "A fat man, wearing a suit, looking totally out of place, a complete
moron. Yep, he's a conman alright, and he's smiling. He probably hasn't
realized the Second World War even took place yet."
S325: "Inside the pavilion, it is almost completely empty. To the north is some
kind of stone monument, while there are stalls to the northwest and northeast.
A chill runs down your spine as you look above you. An all too familiar flag,
depicting a black cross-like shape on a red and white background, flutters in
the light wind."
S326: "Exits are north, northwest, northeast and south."
S327: "Here in this corner of the pavilion is some kind of exhibit to the past,
which it seems you are all too ready to investigate at the moment. The stone
monument is to the west, and the exit from this centre of hell to the
southwest."
S328: "The posters and pictures praising the past have long since been removed,
leaving some kind of viewing device tucked away in the corner as the only
remaining part of this exhibit."
S329: "This stall seems to advertise drinks and food, though the drinks
apparently only just managed to make it. The food, on the other hand, seems to
have gotten lost somewhere along the way. The monument is to the east, and the
exit from this place to the southeast."
S330: "There is only one stall which hasn't been abandoned, on it is a large
bowl of whisky."
S331: "A large bowl, containing a substantial quantity of whisky."
S332: "Standing near the whisky bowl is a man, clearly the stall holder."
S333: "A tall, thin man, with an expression of fear on his face, probably due
to this terrible hell of a world he is living in."
S334: "some"
S335: "Whisky, in a bottle. That's all there is to it."
S336: "The large statue to the north seems to be the main area of the
exhibition. There is an overwhelming presence of evil about this part of the
pavilion, and you just want to leave as quickly as possible."
S337: "There are stalls to the east and west, and the exit is to the south."
S338: "Around the statue's neck is an octagonal silver medallion."
S339: "An octagonal medallion on a silver chain."
S340: "That's not important, just part of the statue."
S341: "A long plastic rod has been left lying around on the control panel."
S342: "A long plastic rod, with a handle at one end. It has a futuristic look
to it."
S343: "The room is strikingly similar to the one you discovered the suit in,
the shape and size are almost identical. The closet seems to be in considerably
better shape than the other one, though is similarly poorly equipped."
S344: "The exit is to the east."
S345: "A wooden box, with a yellow label on the lid, has been left here."
S346: "some"
S347: "Some wire cutters rest on one of the shelves."
S348: "A fairly standard set of wire cutters, possibly from a period in time
akin to yours."
S349: "The path runs from west to northeast, through pleasant looking
grassland. Trees, bushes and other vegetation surrounds you on all sides of the
path. A sign informs you the lake is to the northeast, and the rest of the park
to the west."
S350: "The trees are unclimbable."
S351: "The trees are typical of what you might expect to find in a park. What
is rather untypical, however is the body of the man behind one of the bushes."
S352: "The sight of a dead body is becoming uncomfortably familiar, though this
one doesn't bear the neat handywork you'd associate with your "old friend", in
fact he died a rather unclean death, a knife rammed into his chest. Perhaps the
people you saw on the path had something to do with this."
S353: "A black leather wallet, with the words "Made in Hamburg" in gold written
on the front."
S354: "A typical credit card, complete with a magnetic strip and the word
"gold" embellished on the front."
S355: "To the north of you is the vast expanse of the park's solitary lake,
looking dull, a reflection of the dark sky and equally dark feeling about this
whole place. A wooden hut is to the east, looking derelict and unused."
S356: "You're not here for pleasure. Get on with the job in hand."
S357: "The path leads southwest."
S358: "The wood the hut is made of seems to be rotting, and the only apparent
way to get in is the wooden door to the east."
S359: "The door to the wooden hut is closed."
S360: "The door to the wooden hut has been opened."
S361: "The inside of the wooden hut is filled with gloom, the only light
entering through a crack in the ceiling. The only furnishing in the room is a
table against one wall."
S362: "Leaving the presence of this man would surely be inviting death."
S363: "The exit is to the west."
S364: "Sitting behind the table is a shadowy man, he looks an important figure,
maybe he's the leader of some type of resistance movement."
S365: "A well-worn road running from west to east, with the park gates to the
north. Some distance to the east, the street ends in a bricked up wall, while
it opens up into some kind of large square to the west. The area is deserted,
almost as if the inhabitants have given up on this terrible world."
S366: "A tall brick wall halts passage to the east, and is covered in writing
protesting against the regime. It seems attempts have been made to remove the
desecration, but the scars still remain. On the south side of the street is
some kind of cafeteria, with a tarnished "OPEN" sign in a dirty front window."
S367: "The wall is a barrier you are unable to pass."
S368: "The only areas of interest are to the south and west."
S369: "The exit from this hellhole is to the north."
S370: "A white plastic table by one wall is unoccupied, with a chair made of
the same material nearby."
S371: "A simple white, plastic table, complete with matching seat, nothing
worth going into any detail about."
S372: "A young girl in overalls is standing behind the counter, obviously she
is the cafeteria attendant."
S373: "A young girl, like the rest of the people here she seems to live under a
shadow of fear and gloom."
S374: "The cake looks as if it is made out of cardboard, hardly appetizing."
S375: "A round steel ashtray on the plastic table, with the words "Silverstone
cafe" engraved around the edges."
S376: "A white paper sachet, with the word "pepper" written on the front."
S377: "A tall man, with a distinctive thick black beard. He looks wary, as if
he's doing something highly illegal."
S378: "A crumpled newspaper, the headline is all about the "glorious" victory
forty years ago and the tide of "celebrations" sweeping the country."
S379: "A note, seemingly typed in a hurry."
S380: "You are in what appears to be the central area of the town, market
stalls lie abandoned and a few people hurriedly walk from one area to another,
as if in a hopeless attempt to avoid this apparent centre of the evil. Most
areas have been cordoned off, except for the seemingly important stone building
to the south."
S381: "The only directions which you can progress in are to the south and
east."
S382: "This building was once home to the free people of this country, but now
it belongs to the practical enslavers of the townsfolk. A wooden desk dominates
this reception hall, and huge flags hang limply from the ceiling, as if to
enforce the regime. To the south, a stone staircase leads up into the
building."
S383: "The only exits are the steps to the south and the entrance to the
north."
S384: "At the foot of the staircase, a sentry is standing on guard duty."
S385: "A proud-looking man in a black, sinister uniform. His face bears the
hallmark of experience, and his eyes scan the room as if looking for the
tiniest observational detail out of place."
S386: "The stairs continue both up and down from here. On the east side a
window looks out onto the town. The sun is behind the clouds at the present
time, as if waiting for the world to be a better place before reappearing.
There is a door in the west wall, a sign next to it says "File Room.""
S387: "The file room door is closed."
S388: "The file room door has been opened."
S389: "A room containing lots of desks, cabinets and drawers, this seems to be
the centre of information for the sinister evil that lurks in this time zone.
Dim light enters from a high window, casting shadows over the room."
S390: "A somewhat important looking filing cabinet stands out from the others
in the room."
S391: "There is a filing cabinet here, its only drawer having been opened."
S392: "An important looking metal filing cabinet, with only one drawer."
S393: "hundreds of"
S394: "Hundreds of files, with a whole wealth of information contained in
them."
S395: "Dim light filters into this area of the town hall, though it is not
entirely clear where it is coming from. A corridor leads off to the south,
running past many doors, while the stairs leading back down are to the north."
S396: "The door to the east seems extremely important, and the other doors
simply a waste of time."
S397: "Your antics have opened the door in the east wall."
S398: "an"
S399: "A fairly thin red wire, part of the electronics system of the heavy
metal door."
S400: "The office seems to be a mixture of the past, present and future, with
technology ranging from the oriental rug on the floor to hi-tech equipment on a
desk in the far corner. Completing the pastiche of various stages of scientific
advancement is a moose head hanging on one wall."
S401: "You can only go west from here."
S402: "A wealthy looking carpet, that must have cost quite a bit."
S403: "A cabinet of smooth wood, quite rich looking, now that you can actually
see it, with one door only on the front."
S404: "I know that "thingy" isn't a very technical term, but how else do you
describe a triangular plug, with a cable coming out of the end?"
S405: "A medium sized black box, with a dangerous looking red button on one of
its sides. A funnel emerges from one end. This is not the kind of object to be
taken lightly."
S406: "The corridor is completely featureless in every respect, even its shape
seems perfectly circular. The whole area seems somehow surreal, as if it didn't
really exist. A crowd of oddly dressed people surround you, and appear to be
moving slowly eastwards along the corridor."
S407: "You are unable to even take one step in that direction, as if some
invisible and powerful force prevents you from doing so."
S408: "The corridor runs from west to east."
S409: "Here the corridor splits into two, one exit to the northeast and another
to the southeast. The crowd of people divides itself almost precisely into two
at the junction. Above each of the branching corridors is a flag, above the
northeast exit is a swastika, and above the southeast is a flag bearing the
symbol of a golden clock."
S410: "An invisible force prevents progress in that direction."
S411: "There is no exit from here in that direction."
S412: "The walls of the corridor seem to have turned a grisly black colour as
you made the choice. Around you seems to be a presence of unearthly evil. There
are no exits from here that are immediately noticeable."
S413: "There's no way to progress in that direction."
S414: "The corridor seems to stretch on forever, ending in a mist to the east.
The crowd of people has thinned out considerably, hardly anyone waits around
here except you."
S415: "There is an aura of importance about this place, and you find yourself
trapped here."
S416: "As you look into the old man's face, you get the weird feeling you ought
to know him from somewhere."
S417: "an"
S418: "The crowd of people is one of the most unusual you have ever seen, men
and women alike are dressed in strange garments, consisting of suits of armour,
togas, twentieth century army uniforms, and hi-tech spacesuits."
S419: "A large area, vaguely circular in shape and part of a forest. The trees
that surround you rustle in the wind, and the area is dimly illuminated by
moonlight. Thick vegetation covers the area, but dirt tracks lead to the north
and to the northeast."
S420: "The trees here are unclimbable."
S421: "A black ferocious guard dog, with white sharp teeth in its mouth making
it quite clear you had better do something quickly."
S422: "A ferocious guard dog is presently providing you with unwanted company."
S423: "The trees are beginning to thin out here, and the moonlight coming from
above is reasonably bright. To the north you can see the shape of dark towers
rising above the treetops, and tracks lead east and south. There is even
brighter light to the north, obvious signs of activity."
S424: "The trees here aren't suitable for climbing."
S425: "The leaves of the trees above you effectively cut out any natural light
that might otherwise be present. The gloomy atmosphere is increased by the
tight feeling surrounding you. Tracks lead off to the west and to the
southwest, and to the north there is a somewhat brighter area."
S426: "There are various types of tree present, and all of them seem somehow
sinister."
S427: "many"
S428: "You are at the high point of one of the smaller forest trees, the ground
is several metres below you. Your position gives you a reasonable vantage point
of the area below, and you can make out a building some distance to the
northwest."
S429: "The only way to go from here is down."
S430: "A German patrol is efficiently searching the area."
S431: "This is a large open area at the side of a large stone building next to
you, with towers casting eerie shadows in the moonlight. To the west there
appears to be a small hut, probably the main entrance to the building. A track
leads back into the forest to the south."
S432: "There's no way you climb the building's walls."
S433: "A shiny black car has been parked here, its engine is running."
S434: "A thin, weak-looking individual wearing a smart black uniform."
S435: "A small iron key on a ring."
S436: "A multitude of knobs and switches, quite overbearing."
S437: "Several pipes make up the underside of the car, but you can't make too
much out because of the poor lighting conditions."
S438: "Seeing as plastics haven't been invented yet, you are sure this is
somehow connected with the events revolving around the keystone. Looking
through the plastic, you notice electronic workings inside, further increasing
your suspicions."
S439: "Somebody has left a black pen on the front seat of the car."
S440: "An ordinary black pen, with a gold swastika embellished on the lid."
S441: "This seems to be the main entrance to a large stone building to the
north. The gate of the building has been opened, allowing access inside.
Through the gate you can't make anything out, it all seems too gloomy, and
soldiers patrol the walls above. A barrier blocks the way into the castle, and
it appears to be heavily guarded."
S442: "The only directions to go from here are north, south and east."
S443: "You'd rather not risk the attentions of the gate guards again."
S444: "There's no way to progress in that direction."
S445: "The floor of the courtyard bears no signs of any visible exit."
S446: "The buildings in that part of the Schloss are disused."
S447: "This part of the castle clearly hasn't been used since it was abandoned
perhaps centuries ago. Dust covers the stone walls and floor, and dim light
enters through a small crack in the roof above. The wooden shelves that once
occupied this room have long since rotted away."
S448: "The only way out of here is to the southwest."
S449: "A green glass bottle, the label seems to indicate the wine inside is
Austrian, which makes a certain degree of sense. It seems to be about half
full."
S450: "A green bottle that lies discarded in the centre of the room has
gathered an untold amount of dust over the centuries."
S451: "Judging by the low quantity of dust in this room, it is still used
fairly frequently. Your eyes are captivated by the stone altar towards the rear
of the chapel, as if it somehow is part of the immense task you face. Its
surface is illuminated in various shades and colours of light, a circular
stained glass window far above you appears to be the reason why."
S452: "There is no visible exit in that direction."
S453: "A huge table of stone, it seems to bring out the pure and good within
you. The surface is inscribed with many runes, a feeling of great importance is
contained within."
S454: "A carved stone face, almost out of reach. The eyes of whoever it depicts
strangely seem to move when your back is turned, and its open mouth looks ready
to close instantly should the need to do so arise."
S455: "A fine artifact indeed, which strangely hasn't been removed from the
altar. There's no sign of any candle however."
S456: "The hole is small and thin, and it's no wonder you missed it."
S457: "The dagger is completely plain in every respect, yet for some reason,
you feel ill in the presence of the blade."
S458: "You appear to have found the centre of what is happening here in the
Schloss. The stone walls around you make you feel claustrophobic, and there are
damp patches and cobwebs everywhere. At intervals along the wall are round
lights, making this corridor seem like an air raid shelter. The corridor
continues to the east and west."
S459: "Apart from the steps back up to the chapel, the only exits are east and
west."
S460: "This appears to be the entrance to another part of the complex. The main
feature is a strong iron door against the south wall, above which is a sign
written in German. A foul smell wafts into the area from the east, filling you
with a feeling of dread."
S461: "A sign with bold red writing, all in German. Hardly any of it makes any
sense to you, but your distant memories of German lessons allow you to make out
some bits of it, namely the words "Fuhrer" and "appropriate respect"."
S462: "The door is firmly closed."
S463: "The door has been opened."
S464: "The dungeons of the Schloss appear to have been put to use again for the
inexplicable sinister purposes of the new inhabitants. On the north wall is a
barred window of a cell, but there is no door, as if the occupant has been
abandoned to some ugly and unenviable fate. There is a red glow coming from the
room to the south, and corridor ends abruptly here."
S465: "Just four iron bars, plain and simple. Yet there is something evil about
them and their purpose. The dark cell behind isn't a hospitable place."
S466: "All the horrors you have witnessed in your somewhat sheltered life
couldn't possibly have prepared you for what you see here. Sharp blades and
dangerous contraptions make up the bulk of the sickness that this room stands
for. A fire burns in one corner of the room, its red glow is highly appropriate
to the surroundings."
S467: "The fire burns slowly, and an iron bar rests almost frighteningly
casually to one side. You avert your gaze from the untold horrors linked with
the flames."
S468: "The prisoner has been abandoned here, and his eyes are wide open with
insanity. You don't recognise him, yet you get the feeling you ought to know
him from somewhere."
S469: "some"
S470: "Iron chains hang limply from the east wall."
S471: "The chains seem fairly strong, and have a secure lock attached."
S472: "The centre of operations for the Schloss is a well lit room containing a
central table. On the table is a map of Europe, no doubt for showing the
current war situation. There seems to be another area to the west of you, and
the iron door is to the north."
S473: "A map showing the surrounding area and most of Europe. Little flags have
been stuck into the surface, probably to show the positions of military units.
Every area is shown in excellent detail, including this castle."
S474: "A tiny model of the castle, almost perfect in detail."
S475: "A stone fireplace, reasonably large. Any sign of a fire has long since
vanished though."
S476: "A large stone fireplace dominates the south wall, and above it a brass
swastika has been mounted on a black circular plaque."
S477: "A large stone fireplace in the south wall is open, allowing access into
the night."
S478: "A brass symbol of evil, mounted on an equally cold looking black
circular plaque."
S479: "A metal control box, obviously of some importance judging by the lengths
somebody went to in order to conceal it."
S480: "A black button with a square symbol above it. It seems to be somewhat
loosely connected."
S481: "An ordinary grey button."
S482: "A room such that even the slightest glance at its contents fills you
with dread would adequately describe where you are now. Sharp knives and other
unsavoury tools are on a rack above an empty white table."
S483: "The exit is to the east."
S484: "A cold blast of air that seems somehow evil as well as natural emanates
from a refrigerator against one wall."
S485: "A white cubic container, just looking at it is enough to put you off
this place."
S486: "Just a long red tablet, but you suspect there's more to it than that."
S487: "This room is dominated by a weird machine on one side, a metal chair
taking up most of the structure. Something about the machine strikes fear into
you, there is a sinister edge about its simplicity. An empty wooden bench is
the only other feature of this laboratory, and the war room is to the east."
S488: "The machine is too technologically advanced to have been entirely
developed in this time, the metal chair at the front gives the impression that
it is a seat of power greater than any you have ever witnessed. Curiously the
chair has only got one arm, on the right hand side."
S489: "an"
S490: "An electronic helmet is suspended some distance above the metal chair."
S491: "A metal helmet, linked to the main part of the machine by a cable. On
the front of the helmet is a silver face plate."
S492: "Underneath the seat are a pair of metal contacts."
S493: "Metal wires connected to the bottom of the seat."
S494: "You seem to be rooted to the spot."
S495: "A gigantic picture of Europe, with swastika markers at strategic
intervals is spread out below you. A woman moves the markers with a long stick,
several soldiers gathered around the map are watching her intently."
S496: "A messenger stands impatiently nearby."
S497: "A soldier of considerably low rank would be your estimate, most likely a
messenger."
S498: "A white piece of paper, the writing is in German, yet you understand
perfectly what is written on it. It seems to declare nazi forces have
surrounded the enemy and are preparing to advance."
S499: "rather a lot of"
S500: "What's left of the note the messenger delivered."
S501: "A room with wood-panelled walls and a polished wooden desk confronts
your vision, behind the desk is a perfectly placed chair."
S502: "Just looking at the man fills your mind with memories you'd rather not
recall."
S503: "Seated in the chair is a middle aged man in horn rimmed glasses, who
looks straight at you without so much as a blink. You get the feeling of
complete isolation, as if the matter is simply between the two of you."
S504: "You appear to be in a fairly roomy storage hold, extending to the west.
Many empty barrels and crates seem to suggest a long period of neglect or
disuse, and this theory is encouraged by the rusty iron ladder that leads
upwards to a higher deck."
S505: "A yellow label bearing the legend "NavCorp 2000." in bold black
writing."
S506: "An aluminium canister is the only item inside the container worthy of
note."
S507: "An octagonal shaped aluminium canister, there appears to be no way of
opening it."
S508: "You feel a small breeze as you observe your surroundings from the roof
of the large container. There must be a hole in the deck somewhere above you,
as this area is lit by bright moonlight. The only option to get off the roof
appears to be a perilous climb down the sides of the container."
S509: "Someone has had a fair crack at disabling this place, most of the
equipment is in a state of zero activity. Pieces of wire make up the picture of
sabotage, strewn about the floor like spare parts."
S510: "The only exit is east."
S511: "The only item that hasn't been totally wrecked is a radio transmitter in
one corner of the room."
S512: "A small dial, with settings ranging from 1 to 500, presumably indicating
the frequency or some other variable function."
S513: "A tiny circuit, you have no idea of its function."
S514: "The black waters that surround the tiny vessel swirl around its hull.
The deck area is poorly lit by a solitary lamp hanging on a brass hook. Most of
the ship is to the east, but steps lead up towards the bridge and a ladder
allows access to the cargo hold."
S515: "An enormous shadow is cast by an abandoned forklift truck to one side of
the deck."
S516: "A large vehicle, which has done a fair bit of shifting in its time. Now
though, its life span seems to be drawing quickly to an end."
S517: "It's just a small red cylinder, similar in shape and size to a battery
in your time, but due to the circumstances you found it in, you would expect a
much higher wattage to be supplied by this innocent looking object."
S518: "This is the main corridor running through the heart of the tiny boat.
The area is inadequately lit by a purple neon strip equally inadequately
attached to the ceiling, and a substantial amount of noise adds to the
eerieness of this place. The corridor runs from east to west, both directions
looking equally gloomy."
S519: "A dim purple light, coming from a neon strip on the ceiling."
S520: "An iron pipe runs across the ceiling, spanning the entire width of the
corridor."
S521: "A wooden desk, polished brilliantly, and the exact centre is taken up by
a statue depicting a stone pyramid shaped face."
S522: "A rectangular piece of glass, which has been ornately framed. As you
gaze into the mirror, you see yet again the face of a mad professor who should
have known better than to tamper with the structure of time."
S523: "A perfectly shaped face, with a solitary mouth in the form of a thin
slot. A single eye stares at you from the centre of the head, the statue
reminds you of some legendary creature, but the name seems to elude you."
S524: "It seems you know who dropped a bronze bracelet here, as one is rolling
around on the floor, making some rather interesting movement patterns it must
be said."
S525: "A simply made bronze bracelet, about five centimetres in diameter, with
carved images of a star and a square on the outside surface."
S526: "A tiny cigar butt, a grim reminder of an unhealthy pastime taken up by
those who have no concern for their life spans."
S527: "A small compact disc, a minuscule version of those found in your time,
but still probably capable of storing an incredible amount of data."
S528: "A small roll of film, the kind of things secret agents have in spy
movies. The word "AtlanCo" has been scratched onto the surface."
S529: "A wire rack and a claustrophobic atmosphere simply add to the
sinisterness of this location. What little natural light there is filters in
through a minuscule hole in the ceiling, and the shadows seem to creep toward
you with every moment that passes."
S530: "The lifeless body which you presume belongs to the captain is huddled in
the corner of the closet."
S531: "A business card with black writing, a strange find."
S532: "You should be proud of your find, but there's something about the colour
that's wrong."
S533: "The image solidifies into a scene of a majestic looking city, in the
centre of which is a perfectly rounded tower. The image darkens, and a booming
voice can be heard. "This is what we seek to protect from those who would use
our technology against us. We have constructed the ultimate key to the
structure of time itself, a device which can unlock gateways before unopened.
If it should be misused, then the very foundations of history will crumble and
it will be too late to prevent the ultimate catastrophe."
The voice suddenly ends, as if the final verdict of doom has just been
delivered.
"
S534: "A nasty wire garrote, a brutal and sinister tool of evil and death."
S535: "Or that would be your educated guess as to this room's purpose, noting
such meticulate observational details like empty crates and spare magazines
left unwanted on the floor. Like the rest of this ship, the lighting is dim and
the area seems to be totally deserted."
S536: "A crate made up of wooden planks, with writing written on the lid."
S537: "It's a similar shape to what you would expect a limpet mine to look
like, although you can tell it is much technologically advanced. There appears
to be a small glass aperture on the top, and the most dangerous looking feature
is a black switch on one side."
S538: "The control area of the ship has clearly been sabotaged recently, the
smoke pouring out of the main panel is the only information you require to make
that deduction. Steps lead back down to the main deck area of the ship."
S539: "A circular metal door, whose only feature other than its very ordinary
surface is a red sensor located in the middle."
S540: "A closed circular metal door to the east captures your attention."
S541: "An open door to the east provides the means of entering some sort of
submarine."
S542: "The inside of this vessel is somewhat bland to say the least, the walls
have no notable features, in fact the only decoration is a raised central
column that appears to be the main control panel. Your overall impression is
that this is a second hand piece of junk hardly fit to make a journey, but it
would appear you have no choice in the matter."
S543: "The raised central column has no visible switches or buttons, but you
assume it must be the main control area as there is nowhere else that could
possibly fit that description. The only feature is a smooth octagonal trough on
the surface."
S544: "This column looks exactly the same as the previous one, except there are
some controls present. They consist of touch sensitive pads in the seven
colours of the rainbow."
S545: "a bolt of lightning"
S546: "an"
S547: "a series of concentric circles"
S548: "a grid of tiny squares"
S549: "a series of wavy lines"
S550: "a circle with an arrow leading from it"
S551: "an"
S552: "a tiny dot with lines radiating from it"
S553: "a downward pointing arrow"
S554: "Something that looks like a disk drive unit, with a tiny circular hole
in the centre."
S555: "You see no trace of the rust that was once present."
S556: "A green metal box, with writing which reads "US ARMY. TOP SECRET."
stencilled onto the lid."
S557: "An aged piece of paper, the writing has almost completely faded away."
S558: "A loose chunk of rock looking totally out of place is on the floor
nearby."
S559: "This abode has long since been abandoned, but evidence of both old and
new technology remains. To one side is a wooden workbench, it brings pangs of
homesickness just to look at it. Light is provided by a glowing yellow globe
far above."
S560: "This house must have been inhabited by someone similar to yourself, as
the workbench is dominated by a baffling complex machine."
S561: "A really weird device to say the least, it consists of an access panel
on one side, a plastic container that looks severely out of place and a square
metal platform completes the scenario. Now you just have to work out what the
hell it all means."
S562: "A plastic container, cubic in shape and there is no lid, so at least you
won't have to worry about opening it."
S563: "Just a simple metal platform, that's all there is to it."
S564: "A small hatch on the side of the machine, allowing access to the inner
workings of the crazy device."
S565: "A set of metal contacts inside the panel stick out in more ways than
one."
S566: "The view that greets you is like something out of Greek mythology, a
ruined temple lies to the north. Unfortunately, the entrance has long sinced
collapsed, leaving you with two other doorways to the northeast and northwest
as your only options, apart from the pathway back to the south."
S567: "This chamber looks something like a medieval cinema, with row upon row
of stone seats arranged in front of a white screen at the forepoint of the
location. It would only take an usher and a popcorn seller to complete the
scene, but the place is devoid of life. The exit is to the southeast."
S568: "A beam of white light enters the room from far above and dominates the
centre of the room."
S569: "Light filters in from the northwest, casting long shadows over this
secret location. You feel as though it was destined to be you who would break
the seal and walk upon the stone floor."
S570: "Your reward is somewhat pathetic, the only furnishing in this otherwise
bare chamber is a triangular stone table."
S571: "The large hole in the centre of the table seems to be more important
than the other three smaller ones."
S572: "Exactly the same as the other keystones, only this is made out of rather
cheap looking glass."
S573: "It is impossible to think up any other name for this chamber.
Considering you must be thousands of metres under the sea, you find it beyond
logic that there is a vast black space above you, filled with all manner of
stars, comets and planets. In the centre of the room is a glass orb, surrounded
by six equally spaced rings of light."
S574: "A glass orb, which is innocently floating in the centre of the six rings
of light."
S575: "It is almost as if sheer power itself is reflecting off the three walls
of the chamber. How you know is beyond anybody's explanation, perhaps it is the
inevitable shape of the chamber, maybe just intuition, but you feel as though
you have reached the very centre of time itself."
S576: "A man dressed in a white cloth toga stands nearby, in clear
anticipation."
S577: "An old man, his white beard is his distinctive feature. A golden clock
is hanging around his neck, and he eyes you with a mixture of awe and
suspicion."
S578: "A stone circular platform is the focal point of the chamber."
S579: "The circular platform has gone, only to be replaced by a stone
triangular shaped column."
S580: "A triangular column of stone, just looking at it is enough to make you
believe that this is the centre of all that exists."
S581: "A simple wooden casket, yet somehow you know that inside lies the secret
of time itself. The only means of opening it appears to be a triangular keyhole
on the front surface."
S582: "It's rather hard to believe the secret of time is just a gold chain with
a tetrahedral frame on the end, even if the frame is made of a strange alloy
you've never seen before."
S583: "The old man looks considerably unhealthier now than he did just a few
moments ago."
S584: "The old man known as the timekeeper lies unmoving on the floor."
S585: "Your enemy has an expression of triumph on her sadistic face."
S586: "Your enemy watches you carefully, a metal rod pointing straight at you."
S587: "It would appear you have become an exhibit of some kind, that is the
only explanation you can find as to why you are in a display case. Through the
glass you can see into what you presume is a museum."
S588: "There is definitely no exit at all in that direction."
S589: "You are trapped inside a glass case, with no apparent exits!"
S590: "A pedestal with a bronze plaque affixed is in the centre of the case."
S591: "It's just a simple square pedestal, with a bronze plaque affixed to the
base."
S592: "The display case is surrounded on five sides by plates of glass."
S593: "Just a red wire, its purpose is unknown to you at the present time."
S594: "White swirling mists surround you as far as the eye can see, you feel as
though you are no longer part of anything that exists. The passage of time
seems to have halted completely, there is no longer a future or a past, just
now."
S595: "Somehow you don't think leaving the lesson before the end is a good
idea."
S596: "The exit is to the north."
S597: "A large window which looks out across the street."
S598: "A bald teacher by the name of Hodder is giving what is supposed to be a
physics lesson."
S599: "A small man, the way the light reflected off his shiny bald head always
amused you, and his mannerisms even more so."
S600: "Falling to pieces like the rest of the stuff in this laboratory."
S601: "Your stool near the large window is preparing itself for the next
onslaught of your weight."
S602: "Hodder's desk is more or less empty, apart from a pile of exercise books
directly in front of him."
S603: "Idiot, moron and fool are words which spring to mind as you look at the
boy sitting on the other side of the room to you."
S604: "An incredibly cheap watch you unwisely bought off a second hand market
stall, it doesn't even seem to be displaying the time at the moment, and the
only means of operating it is a tiny button on one side."
S605: "These binding tools tend to be used for every purpose but what they were
intended for."
S606: "an"
S607: "The books which were handed in at the start of the lesson have been
arranged in a very neat pile, yours is somewhere among them, no doubt you will
score a very poor mark for this week's homework."
S608: "Two years of teaching, and you still have no idea how this thing works.
It's a supposedly simple physics gadget capable of measuring small distances,
with a knob on one end for turning."
S609: "The first floor of the science building houses the physics labs, and the
classroom where are the horrors take place is to the south. Stairs lead down to
the ground floor, an office is to the north and the darkroom is to the west. A
window to the east looks out over the rest of the school."
S610: "The physics lesson has finished now."
S611: "There's nothing in the darkroom of any use to you."
S612: "The office door is a simple wooden one, with a sign hanging behind the
small viewing window."
S613: "The door leading to the office is closed at the moment."
S614: "."
S615: "The room that houses the so called brains of the physics department
leaves much to be desired. Papers are strewn about on the many shelves,
everything is a complete mess, including the desk in the middle of the room."
S616: "Hodder is annoyed enough already, further agitation could result in
serious harm to your career."
S617: "The door is to the south, and you wish badly that it were to the north."
S618: "The very presence of Hodder in the room fills you with a mixture of
apprehension and dread."
S619: "Hodder looks just like a spider in its parlour, ready to pounce at even
the slightest opportunity."
S620: "A metal cuboid, coloured red and silver. You recall with delight the
fascination you had when you first come across one of these, and the nightmare
of pulling off the iron filings when you accidentally dropped it in a jar full
of them."
S621: "These rooms hold even more unpleasant memories than the physics ones do.
Practical sessions usually finished early for you when you spilt concentrated
sulphuric acid or foul smelling ammonia all over your clothes, and you have no
intention whatsoever of reliving such an experience. The exit from the science
building is to the east."
S622: "This building doesn't have a basement."
S623: "There's no reason on earth why you would want to visit any of the
chemistry labs."
S624: "This room is quite a bit neater than the physics office upstairs. The
desk in the centre of the room is a carbon copy, but at least there are no
papers strewn about on top of it. There are no other interesting features
except an ornament on the ceiling and the window you rather unorthodoxly
entered the room by."
S625: "Hodder locked the door behind him, looks like you'll have to use the
window again if you want to leave."
S626: "A desk similar in almost every respect to the one upstairs, it's wooden
surface shows signs of strain, something heavy has been on the desk in the
recent past."
S627: "an"
S628: "All that's left of Hodder's lunch is a tiny piece of bread with an
equally small piece of beef wedged in the middle. Hardly appetising at all,
even looking at it makes you feel ill."
S629: "A fairly small spanner, a tool you have seen Hodder use fairly
frequently in his hopeless scientific experiments."
S630: "The outside of the science building shows many signs of wear and tear,
the concrete is old and cracked in many places. The rest of the school is to
the east, and you can enter the science wing to the west."
S631: "A rusty metal drainpipe is somewhat loosely attached to the side of the
building."
S632: "A metal pipe, obviously for drainage purposes, allows access to the
first floor office, if only you could manage to get up there."
S633: "The window is quite small, some kind of brass latch provides the locking
mechanism."
S634: "A heavy metal sphere, it seems to be made of lead, and there is a tiny
hook on one end."
S635: "The victorian architecture, the iron gates, the school crest above the
main entrance to the north. The memories are so distant they are now but a tiny
speck in your mind. Yet you still remember your shudder of fear when you first
walked up the steps many moons ago, and the seven years you spent within these
walls, working towards the goal you were never to achieve."
S636: "You'd rather not chance a meeting with your enemy who you saw enter the
building a few minutes ago. There's a fair chance she would recognise you, and
the consequences of that would certainly be fatal."
S637: "You feel sure the destiny of time resides on school grounds."
S638: "A sinister black van has been parked near the front entrance, no prizes
for guessing who owns it."
S639: "A black van, with doors to the rear. On one side a logo has been
painted, with the words "Schmeist Travel Co." boldly embossed underneath."
S640: "The doors to the rear of the van look fairly firm, and the silver
windows at eye level on each door only intensify the already sinister
atmosphere."
S641: "The underside of the vehicle is a mass of machinery, with oil covering
the surface of the pipes. The fading evening sunlight provides dim
illumination."
S642: "One panel on the bottom of the van looks particularly loose."
S643: "A loose panel, maybe you could move it to gain access to the interior of
the van."
S644: "Again you are surrounded by swirling white mists, and again you no
longer feel a part of existence. There is nobody in sight, yet you feel a great
premonition that the greatest event in time is about to occur."
S645: "The mists seem to stretch forever in that direction."
S646: "A small triangular cog, perfectly equilateral and its sides are about
five centimetres in length. There is an even tinier hole in the exact centre,
and an arrow has been engraved onto it, facing in the direction of one of the
triangle's points."
S647: "An enormous tower of stone rises up out of the mists, towering far above
you. You can only just make out the circular clock face at its summit, and the
triangular shape suggests this building has everything to do with the current
predicament in which time finds itself."
S648: "You have no wish to get lost in the swirling mists."
S649: "If the time on the clock is correct, then it will shortly be midnight."
S650: "A huge stone door is at the foot of the tower, it has the presence of
the final obstacle."
S651: "The stone door is open, beckoning you to enter the tower and fulfill
your destiny."
S652: "A huge heavy door of stone, the only abnormality is a symbol, apparently
depicting a coin."
S653: "The room is enshrouded in complete silence, the cogs on the walls have
ceased to function, perhaps a further reminder that time is about to end unless
you do something to rectify the situation. One cog in particular catches your
eye, the giant one several metres above is too similar to the one from your
past to be a coincidence, a dangerous ladder leads up to its surface."
S654: "The stone door closed behind you, so now the dangerous ladder provides
the only possible means of leaving this room."
S655: "This giant steel circle, with equally large teeth around its perimeter
is the central building block of time itself. A triangular axle runs directly
down the middle, and situated next to the axle is an ancient grandfather clock,
the brass hand on its face edging towards the dreaded hour with every moment
that passes."
S656: "The shiny suit of armour looks incredibly formidable, you are filled
with dread as you face the ultimate enemy, her blue eyes boring into the core
of your being."
S657: "A gauntlet hanging on to the rim of the cog is all that prevents the
woman falling to her death below."
S658: "The glass case is covered with dust, and it is a miracle you can make
out the markings on the front, depicting a triangle made up of three squares."
S659: "The only sign remaining of your recent struggle here is a gold chain
near the edge of the cog."
S660: "A simple gold chain, that used to be part of the secret of time until it
was used to lethal effect on your enemy."
S661: "an"
S662: "In true personal fashion, you have improvised one of the essential
timekeeping tools, the simple pendulum."
S663: "The sight of the enemy of time, finally vanquished fills you with
unprecedented pleasure."
S664: "Your enemy, still encased in shiny armour, lies sprawled on the floor,
quite definitely dead."
S665: "A simple tetrahedral frame, made of an alloy you've never seen before."
S666: "An abandoned theatre, a second rate cinema, it would be anybody's guess
as to what this place is. All you see are row upon row of empty seats, nothing
else. The room gives the impression that it is some sort of connection between
important places, you feel as though you have reached a significant dividing
point in the labyrinth of time."
S667: "There is information provided on the following:
